Work Experience | |
2015 - Present | Research Scientist at Intel Corporation
Research Scientist in the Computational Imaging Lab, under Ronald Azuma. Our group designs
the future of Immersive 3D displays and experiences. I am in charge of designing the user
experience for these interactive displays. I also serve a critical role in
supporting the fabrication efforts of the group, designing optical devices with a high level of
precision.
|
2018 - 2022 | Design Consultant at Respira Labs (now Samay Health)
This startup uses ultrasound to measure the resonance in the patient's lungs allowing for an
accurate diagnosis of pulmonary conditions. I was the sole designer and prototyper on the early
stages of the start-up in charge of everything from initial sketches and design to prototyping of
hard components and molding of soft components. With my help, this company was able to
iterate through many prototypes and to have a working device reliable enough for extensive user
testing with patients.
|
2008 - 2015 | Research Asistant at the MIT Media Lab
Research Assistant for the Object Based Media Group. Worked on advanced technologies for new
HCI paradigms and the effect of device interfaces on the experience of storytelling and media.
Researched new ways to use mobile devices to create a closer connection between the user and
their surrounding environment.
|
2006 - 2008 | CAD Specialist at Trotti & Associates
Worked with an interdisciplinary group from MIT preparing a project for the NASA Institute for
Advanced Concepts. We proposed a new habitable rover for the future exploration of the Moon
and Mars.

Work |
| |
2008 - 2015 | MIT Media Lab. Cambridge, Ma.
Research Assistant for the Object Based Media Group. Worked on advanced
technologies for new HCI paradigms. The effect of device interfaces in our
experience of storytelling and media. Currently looking into how are devices
should be the connection between the user and their surrounding immediate context.
|
|
2006 - 2007 | Trotti & Associates. M.I.T, Cambridge, Ma.
Worked with an interdisciplinary group from MIT preparing a project for the
NIAC (NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts) proposing a new mission architecture
for the future exploration of the Moon and Mars.
|
|
2005 | Walmer Design. Miami, Fl.
In charge of interior design solutions and preparing the multimedia presentations
for prospective clients.
|
2002 - 2003 | Red Independiente, Noticias Uno. Tv Newscaster, Bogotá Colombia
Computer graphic designer for the daily news broadcast.
|
|
Teaching |
|
2012 | MIT. Cambridge, MA
A new class was created at the media lab to address the multiple backgrounds of our students.
The class is segmented in to modules like Sensor, Electronics, Design and Fabrication,
Coding, etc. I took over the design and fabrication module teaching to a group of 20
students.

|
2012 | Design and Innovation Workshop, Delhi, India
This was the second iteration of the workshop. This year we went Delhi. This time the track
was called "Designing for Interaction" and it was centered in making the students understand
how a successful interactive solution is independent of technology, a hard lesson for the
newer generations of designers and engineers.

|
2011 | Design and Innovation Workshop, Pune, India
This workshop is a one week concentration in a University in India designed to immerse Indian
students in the different creative processes that take place at the Media Lab. I was one of
3 instructors in the "Media Recrafted" track which aimed at helping students re-think their
relation with different media in order to create new proposals for future interactions.

|
|
2006 - 2007 | Rhode Island School of Design. Providence, RI
Set up and taught twice a week computer workshops as an optional class for students who could just show up. We covered the
principals of CAD Design in a way that the students could then work with any 3D software like Rhino, Solidworks or
3D Studio Max.
|
|
2004 | Basic reading and writing. Bogota, Colombia
I set up a program where I taught primary level orphans with no income. It then evolved in to
a citywide program where I coached middle and high school students on teaching. Hence reaching
more orphans.

Personal Interests | I have a passion for the process of creation with a big bias towards hands-on fabrication. I have
studied and am confident in different "old school" traits as ceramics, glass blowing,
blacksmithing, carpentry, film photography, knitting, mixology and sailing.
